Are you an outdoorsy sort of person? Then you're definitely in the right place. Everyone knows that San Diego is by the beach, but there are also some great other environments around for outdoor exploration. Try out some of these places

1.) Julian at Cuyamaca State Park (beautiful and affordable)

2.)Joshua Tree and Anza Borrego are both beautiful deserts near (relatively) SD. Try to check them out in the early spring when the flowers are blooming and its not too hot!

3.) Solana Beach State Park (only 15 min. away from campus but a nice overnight getaway)

For gear, you may want to check out REI (Kearny Mesa) and Outback Adventures (on campus). Both also organize outings, although these typically cost money.
