Introducing Guide...

**GUIDE (Graduates United in the Interests of Diversity and Excellence) ** is a cross-cultural network connecting graduate students across disciplines and lived experiences. Our mission of GUIDE is to facilitate the success of all graduate students at UCSD. We seek to empower and support graduate students in their pursuit of higher education by promoting an inclusive community, diversity, and academic excellence.

The official website (in development): http://ogs.ucsd.edu/peer2peer/pnp.html.

Key components of the program are:
-Professional and Academic Development
-Community Building and Cultural Enrichment
-Peer Networking and Mentoring
-Diversity Awareness

PARTICIPANTS ARE WANTED FROM ALL DEPARTMENTS TO BE "PEER ADVOCATES" FOR INCOMING STUDENTS. Contact ude.dscu|yhprumpc#ude.dscu|yhprumpc for more info.

So far, the incentives for us are:
1) Getting $$ in the form of Triton card credit that can be spent anywhere on campus. (The amount is TBD but $10 per meeting or event is proposed).
2) Eligibility for travel grants to conferences (of your choice)
3) Free food at any of the personal/professional development workshops that will be part of the program
4) Building community, meeting friends, and promoting diversity at UCSD.

Formal expectations are not yet determined except for a requirement to meet once per quarter with your “peer.”
