The Price Center is the "mall" of UCSD.
There is an enclosed food court at the Price Center, making this important among the Places To Eat. They have several fast-food options:
- Panda Express
- Star Wraps
- Wendy's
- Rubio's Baja Grill
- Subway
- Cafe Roma
- Round Table Pizza
- Shogun
- Jamba Juice
- Sunshine Store
- Food Co-Op Satellite
The Price Center also contains:
- The official UCSD Bookstore
- The Price Center Theater
- An information desk
- A Game Room
- A post office
- A travel agency
- A place to buy flowers
- A small general store (The Sunshine Store)
- A small computer lab (Sun God Lounge)
- ATM's (just east of the Price Center, see Banks)
- Several ballrooms and meeting rooms
There are often concerts in the price center plaza.
Back to the architecture: rumor has it the architecture is specifically designed to facilitate crowd control in order to suppress protest activity (a la UC Berkeley, for example). It's a little conspiracy-theoretic, but next time you're there check out the long narrow entrances to the circular plaza surrounded by elevated walkways and raised ground. Hmm…
There are plans for a large expansion to the price center, more than doubling the space. If this interests you, check out price center expansion to learn more.
